This cross originated in the 16th century in the Salado River region of Argentina. It was carved in mistol, an indigenous wood, as instructed by Jesuit missionaries, to serve as a mans to teach illiterate converts the Passion of Christ. It measures 47 centimeters/ the tapered lover vertical beam was designed to be placed in a wooden base.
The cross comes with a detailed explanation of each of the twenty symbols which are arranged on both vertical and horizontal bars.
